2018 — when my identity got shaken
That year, the word "slash career" was just emerging.
Meanwhile, several things hit me at once — my startup hit a wall, my child was born, my marriage was cracking.
Pulled in too many directions, I suddenly couldn't find my own identity.
As a serial founder, one idea flashed through my mind:
"Build a social app specifically for slash workers."
I assembled an engineering team, registered a company, even filed a trademark.
It took nearly a year and burned millions.
Then — the concept was too new, and I didn't understand system development at all.
After burning through all the funding, the project died before it was born.
Lucky to live in the AI era
AI let me come back to that 2018 idea.
This time, no millions, no team to feed —
I could start building the product I'd been imagining.
The two things that killed it back then —
"the timing wasn't right" and "I can't build it" —
both got knocked down by AI.
Take a look. Try it out.
I've spent real time building Clubby with AI —
pits I've fallen into, prompts I've written, modules I've rebuilt from scratch.
Nothing fancy, but every step is real.
If you use Clubby and like it,
and you're curious how all of this was built with AI,
reach out. —
Happy to chat about the build, product ideas, or partnership.
